The seventh and eighth grade programs at LPPACS offer students with an exceptional interest in the arts an early opportunity to begin studying their artistic discipline. Both programs are currently accepting students in the music, dance, literary arts, theatre and media arts departments, and will prepare students for four-year immersion in those disciplines, while providing them a high-quality academic education.

THE SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE PROGRAMS

The seventh and eighth grade programs at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School offer students with an exceptional interest in the arts an early opportunity to begin studying their artistic discipline. Both programs are currently accepting students in the music, dance, literary arts and media arts departments, and will prepare students for four-year immersion in those disciplines, while providing them a high-quality academic education. Seventh and eighth grade students at LPPACS will receive a full academic schedule with Pennsylvania certified teachers in a traditional academic setting, and will have the chance to get instruction from professionals in the arts field of their choice. These programs offer an unbeatable combination of artistic excellence and high academic standards – since 2009, the school’s eighth grade PSSA scores have traditionally ranked among the highest in Beaver County. Seventh and eighth graders have their academic classes and lunch periods as a group, separate from the rest of the school population.

FACULTY

Seventh and eighth graders will receive arts instruction from professional, working artists in the discipline of their choice, as well as academic instruction from highly-qualified, Pennsylvania certified teachers.

COURSE OFFERINGS

Here is an example of a typical four-period day for an LPPACS middle school student:

• Two periods (approximately three hours) of academic instruction in mathematics, science, social studies and language arts, aligned to PA Academic and Common Core Standards

• One period (approximately 85 minutes) of arts instruction. Students receive a liberal arts curriculum that includes one class in each of the five artistic disciplines (theater, music, media, literary arts and dance) each day.

• One flex period (approximately 85 minutes), which includes additional math and language arts instruction, and additional opportunities for arts classes in the student’s chosen discipline.

Middle school academic course offerings include Language Arts 7 and 8, Physical Science, Integrated Science, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, American History and World History.
