COURSE OF STUDY

The dance curriculum is designed for the student interested in pursuing a career in dance as well as the prospective college student. The courses, ranging from beginner to advanced levels of study, provide students with a well-rounded and challenging education. With numerous opportunities to work in professional quality performances, students are able to obtain hands- on experience in all aspects of a production.

LPPACS dance students will be given the opportunity to work with college professors and professional artists through master classes and workshops.

FACULTY

LPPACS’s Dance Department faculty, which consists of professional performers and educators from various backgrounds, serves not only as instructors of their art, but also as mentors to the aspiring young dancer.

Faculty members have danced and choreographed professionally with Dance Alloy, Sesame Street Live, Shelley Oliver Tap Dancers, Attack Theatre, Pennsylvania Dance Theatre, Continuum Dance Theatre, Broadway Dance Center, Commonwealth of PA, American College Dance Festival and New Castle Regional Ballet Company, and taught master classes at various studios, workshops and colleges, including Youngstown State University, Smith College and Slippery Rock University.

ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAM

Through a partnership with the Community College of Beaver County, students studying dance at LPPACS are able to earn their Associate Arts Degree in Dance while still attending high school.

Our Associate Arts Degree program is a 60 credit course of study over two years in dance. All dance credits will be completed at LPPACS and academic credits will be completed both at LPPACS and CCBC campus.

This program prepares students for transfer to a four-year college or university to complete their studies and pursue careers in either dance performance or dance education. Students can also choose to enter the work force immediately after graduation.
